Introduction

Mission Yoga School is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and ethical learning environment for all trainees, teachers, staff, and community members. These policies are established to maintain clear standards of professional conduct, protect the well-being of all participants, and ensure the integrity of the yoga teacher training program.

All trainees, faculty members, guest teachers, staff, and affiliated personnel are expected to understand and comply with the policies outlined in this document.

1. Code of Conduct

Mission Yoga School is dedicated to maintaining a respectful and professional learning environment rooted in the ethical foundations of yoga. All participants in the training program are expected to:

Professional Integrity

Participants shall conduct themselves with honesty, integrity, and respect toward fellow trainees, faculty members, staff, and the broader community.

Respect and Inclusivity

Mission Yoga School does not tolerate discrimination or exclusion based on age, gender, race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic status, or any other protected characteristic.

Ethical Teaching Practices

Teachers and trainees shall maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students and colleagues. All teaching and learning interactions should uphold the dignity, autonomy, and safety of every individual.

Cultural Respect

Participants are encouraged to honor the cultural and historical roots of yoga and approach the practice with humility, sensitivity, and responsibility.

Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary actions as described in the Grievance Policy.

2. Anti-Harassment Policy

Mission Yoga School is committed to providing a training environment free from harassment, intimidation, or discrimination.

Harassment includes unwelcome verbal, non-verbal, visual, or physical conduct that creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment.

    Examples of harassment may include but are not limited to:

  • Offensive comments, jokes, or slurs
  • Unwelcome sexual advances
  • Requests for sexual favors
  • Inappropriate touching or physical contact
  • Intimidating or threatening behavior
  • Displaying offensive or discriminatory materials

Sexual harassment of any kind is strictly prohibited. Any individual who experiences or witnesses harassment is encouraged to report the incident in accordance with the Grievance Policy.

Mission Yoga School will take all complaints seriously and investigate them promptly and fairly.

3. Anti-Retaliation Policy

Mission Yoga School strictly prohibits retaliation against any individual who reports misconduct, harassment, or any violation of school policy in good faith.

    Retaliation may include:

  • Threats or intimidation
  • Harassment after a complaint has been made
  • Exclusion from activities or opportunities
  • Any adverse treatment due to reporting misconduct

Any person found engaging in retaliatory behavior will be subject to disciplinary action.

4. Grievance Policy

Mission Yoga School provides a clear process for reporting and addressing grievances related to violations of school policies, ethical concerns, or inappropriate conduct.

    A grievance may be submitted by any trainee, teacher, or staff member. Reports should include:

  • Name and contact information of the reporting individual
  • Name of the individual involved
  • Description of the incident
  • Date and location of the incident
  • Any supporting evidence or witness information

Reports should be submitted to the Program Director or School Management.

Review Process

    Upon receiving a report, the reviewing body will:

  1. Evaluate the complaint
  2. Gather relevant information and evidence
  3. Conduct interviews if necessary
  4. Make an objective determination

All reports will be treated confidentially to the greatest extent possible.

Possible Outcomes

    Depending on the findings, the reviewing body may implement appropriate actions, including:

  • No action if allegations are not substantiated
  • Formal warning
  • Suspension from the program
  • Dismissal from the training program

The goal of this process is to ensure fairness, accountability, and the well-being of the community.

5. Tuition and Refund Policy

All tuition payments for the Mission Yoga School Yoga Teacher Training Program must be completed according to the payment schedule agreed upon at enrollment.

Cancellation by Trainee

  • If a trainee cancels enrollment more than 30 days before the training begins, tuition may be refunded minus the non-refundable deposit.
  • If cancellation occurs within 30 days of the training start date, partial refunds may be granted at the discretion of the school.

Withdrawal After Training Begins

    If a trainee withdraws after the training has started, refunds will be considered based on:

  • Hours completed
  • Administrative costs
  • Remaining training obligations

Program Cancellation

If Mission Yoga School cancels the training program for any reason, all tuition payments will be refunded in full.

6. Attendance Policy

Attendance is an essential component of the Yoga Teacher Training Program.

Trainees are expected to attend all scheduled sessions and participate fully in all training activities.

Attendance Requirements

  • Trainees must complete the required 200 training hours to be eligible for certification.
  • Absences must be communicated to the program director in advance whenever possible.

Missed Hours

    If a trainee misses a portion of the training, they may be required to:

  • Complete make-up assignments
  • Attend additional sessions
  • Participate in one-on-one mentoring

Failure to complete the required training hours may result in delayed certification or the requirement to repeat certain portions of the program.

Policy Acknowledgment

By enrolling in the Mission Yoga School Yoga Teacher Training Program, trainees acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by the policies outlined in this document.

Mission Yoga School reserves the right to update these policies as necessary to maintain a safe, ethical, and professional training environment.
